A very successful year for Lakewood High School culminated with our graduation ceremony held at the Sumter County Exhibition Center on June 4, 2010. Our 259 graduates included one Palmetto Fellow, 71 students qualifying for the South Carolina LIFE Scholarships and 73 students qualifying for the South Carolina HOPE Scholarships. By graduation day the class of 2010 had received a record-setting $7,602, 530.00 in scholarships with more still being processed.
While some graduates’ plans are still pending many have already firmed up their post-graduation intentions. Twenty five will attend a 2-year college in the fall, 125 will attend a 4-year college or university, 12 will be entering a branch of the military, and others will enter directly into the work force. In today’s uncertain economy it is rewarding to know that our 2009-10 motto of “Navi-Gators: Following the Path to Excellence” has assisted so many of our students as they prepare for life after high school. Congratulations and all our best to the Lakewood High School class of 2010.
